Evidence 2025

Trans Tasman Resources ('TTR')

Under its current Fast-Track application, TTR is seeking permission to:

  • Extract 50 million tonnes of seabed every year for 20 years

  • Remove five million tonnes of iron ore annually and dump the remaining 45 million tonnes of sediment back into the ocean

KASM response & expert evidence

Thanks to supporters from around the motu, we have put together a solid submission with Greenpeace, our legal team and seven scientific experts. The below documents detail why this destructive experimental project should not be approved.
These were submitted to the Fast Track Panel on the 6 October 2025.

Legal submissions and comment of KASM and Greenpeace

Dr Leigh Torres - Marine Mammals

John Cockrem - Seabirds

Dr Tara Anderson - Benthic Ecology & appendices

Dougal Greer - Sediment Plume

Prof. John Luick - Sediment & Flocculation

Jill Cooper - Feasibility and Mining Operations

Prof Christopher Fleming & Andrew Buckwell - Economics

The Fast Track Panel will review all the information and may hold hearings on specific issues. The final decision is due on the 18 March 2026.
We need your help to continue to fund our legal team through this process.
